From curiosity to the first machine
WATS began with engineer Tadeusz Demski. Japanese toy factories inspired his interest in high-frequency welding. He built a machine that enabled the production of inflatable Bu Bu bears. The name WATS comes from the Polish phrase “Wytwarzanie Artykułów z Tworzyw Sztucznych” — manufacturing plastic products.
In the final years of communist Poland, these toys entered a market where many products were scarce. The first successes opened the way to new ideas.
